Cerf and Robert Kahn were the primary architects of the TCP/IP protocol, which is the foundation of the Internet. Cerf also served as the first president of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and he is currently Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google. He has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the development of the Internet, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
